For LSD 1 / Companion providers

Companion visits (LSD 1) that hold up on outings

Waiversoft runs Life Skills Development 1 (Companion) for your agency: caregivers clock in from their phone wherever the outing starts, write each visit note from a template made for community outings, and your office approves the notes and bills S5135UC in quarter hours from the real clock times.

How it works

Built for a service that happens out in the community

Companion visits move from the home to the park, the library and the bus stop. Waiversoft follows the visit, not just the address.

Community outings

Clock-ins that make sense away from home

Each punch records the caregiver's location and is checked against the consumer's approved visit area, so the office sees whether the visit started at the home and how far away it ended. If outings make the location check more noise than help, turn location off for Life Skills Development and keep it on for your other services. See how punches work in scheduling and EVV.
  • Set how far from the home a clock-in still counts, per consumer
  • Distance from the visit on every clock-in and clock-out
  • Caregivers can start an authorized visit that wasn't on the schedule

Companion note template

A note template written for outings

The LSD 1 / Companion template asks what the visit is about: where you went, what the person chose and the choices they were offered, who they met, the supports you gave and how much help was needed, the goals worked on, and how they responded, then health and next time. The AI writes the note from the answers. The rules behind it are in our Life Skills Development 1 guide.
  • One question per screen, with places like park, library or place of worship to tap
  • Supports such as using the bus, paying for items and talking with others
  • Caregivers can also speak a voice note or prompt the AI instead

Note quality flags

Catch the copied note before a reviewer does

Companion notes drift into “went to the park, good visit” fast. Before saving, caregivers are warned when a note is too short, names none of the person's goals, or is almost the same as an earlier note. The office sees the same flags on the visit and approves, or edits, before the green check. More on visit notes.
  • Choose the minimum length your agency asks for
  • Goals come from the person's notes guidelines, in their own words
  • Template headings are ignored when comparing notes, so only real copies are flagged

Went to the library with Eleanor. She picked a book. Good visit, no issues today.

It's short — 14 words. Your agency asks for at least 25.
It doesn't mention any of Eleanor's goals.
It's almost the same as the note from Oct 22. Each note should describe that visit.

Quarter-hour billing

S5135UC billed from real clock times

Life Skills Development 1 bills in quarter hours. Waiversoft turns each visit's clock times into units, rounded to the nearest quarter hour, so a visit under 8 minutes bills nothing and is shown as under one unit. Visits with no note, a note waiting for approval or no clock-out stay out of the claim file until fixed. See billing and claims.
  • Each authorization line keeps its rate from the iBudget rate table
  • Download an 837P claim file or a worksheet for keying claims by hand

FAQ

Questions about Life Skills Development in Waiversoft

Is there a note template for Life Skills Development 1?

Yes. The LSD 1 / Companion template asks where the visit went, what the person chose, who they met, the supports given, the goals worked on, how they responded, health and next time. Your agency can edit its templates on the web.

What if the visit happens away from the consumer's home?

Each clock-in and clock-out shows how far it was from the visit and whether it was inside the consumer's approved visit area. You can widen the area for a consumer or turn location off for Life Skills Development.

How are short visits billed?

Units come from the clock times, rounded to the nearest quarter hour. A visit under 8 minutes has nothing to bill and is shown as under one unit on the Billing page.

Can we bill the 1:2 and 1:3 rates?

Each authorization line keeps the ratio and rate you pick from the iBudget rate table, and its visits bill at that rate.

What does it cost?

Everything here is part of the one Waiversoft plan, $20 per consumer per month. Office staff and caregivers are free.
